Chestnut Day

(This was supposed to be posted 2 hours ago.)

Hola,

Today is el dia de la castañada (the Chestnut Day) in Catalonia. Instead of celebrating Halloween, they celebrate the chestnut! In the morning they go to the cemetery to light candles, and later on the whole family gather to have lunch.

After two separate visits in the park (the first with Arnau, the second with Laia…) we had the most delicious meal at the grandparents’ (i.e in the other part of the house).

As plate one we had Pan con tomate (bread with tomato), salad, pimento and egg with cheese and shrimps. After that - a very juicy and tender lamb. That was a real bomb! as my American friends would have said. But what is more, accompanied with the food we drank un buen vino. 21 year old red wine. That was something completely different compared to cheap red wine mixed with sprite light.

Right now it’s siesta time. I’ve never appreciated sleep as much as I do now.

Hasta ahora,
